{"id":14705,"date":"2025-02-07T10:20:27","date_gmt":"2025-02-07T15:20:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whizkid.com\/a4pc\/?p=14705"},"modified":"2025-02-07T10:20:27","modified_gmt":"2025-02-07T15:20:27","slug":"meanwhile-in-mississippi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whizkid.com\/a4pc\/2025-02\/meanwhile-in-mississippi\/","title":{"rendered":"Meanwhile, in Mississippi\u2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Mississippi Board of Nursing has issued a temporary rule regarding GLP-1 treatment that included a provision related to compounding.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If any compounded medication is administered or prescribed, it says, the licensee (i.e., the nurse) shall confirm the pharmacy supplying the compounded medication has either\u2026\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">obtained the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) from a US-based repackager or wholesaler that has performed API verification testing to confirm the supplied certificate of analysis (COA), or<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">that pharmacy has independently performed API verification testing to confirm the supplier\u2019s COA<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The rule is currently effective, but the requirements only last through May 30, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>(Oh, and by the way: We suspect a certain drugmaker is behind this move.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>While we\u2019re talking about the Magnolia State \u2026<\/strong> a bill there that would have provided that vitamins administered by a nurse through IV therapy in a clinical setting did <em>not<\/em> have to be prepared by a compounding pharmacy. It died in committee.
