What a week it\u2019s been!<\/p>\n

Our Online Payments Certification Work Group met with representatives of LegitScript and NABP dot-Pharmacy to learn more about them and work through hurdles compounding pharmacies are having in navigating the certification process.<\/p>\n

Our PAC trustees are meeting today to approve a preliminary slate of congressional candidates we aim to support in this election year \u2014 and to figure out how we\u2019re going to raise the money to fund that budget. (Hint: Invest now in CompPAC<\/strong><\/a> and help us elect candidates who think like you do about pharmacy compounding.)<\/p>\n

Registrations for EduCon Virtual exceeded expectations \u2014 more than 125! \u2014 and are still coming in, since, as you\u2019ll read below, that conference (and 11 hours of CE) is still available online for about 55 more days.<\/p>\n

And APC is represented out in Las Vegas this week at PCCA\u2019s HRT Conference, briefing attendees on FDA\u2019s threat to compounded hormones<\/a>.<\/p>\n

All in all, it\u2019s been a typical<\/em> week for APC. This is what we do for you every day, every week. Just thought you\u2019d like to know.<\/p>\n

    Cheri Garvin joins APC board<\/h2>\n
    A warm welcome to the newest member of the APC Board of Directors, Cheri Garvin, RPh<\/strong>, CEO of the Compounding Center in Leesburg, Va. (She was appointed to the board mid-term when a previous board member resigned for personal reasons.)<\/p>\n

    Cheri brings more than 30 years of experience in pharmacy, including stints in chain pharmacies, hospitals, and nursing homes, and, of course, as owner of an independent compounding pharmacy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    EduCon: It ain\u2019t over till it\u2019s over<\/h2>\n

    The live version of EduCon 2022 might be over (and a bigger success than expected), but the conference isn\u2019t over<\/em>. You can still register<\/a> and take all the seminars on demand (for CE credit, of course) through April 8.<\/p>\n

    Make sure you and your team are compliant and up to date on everything from USP BUDs (and those easily overlooked minor chapters), to avoiding bias, preparing for a DEA inspection, and more!<\/p>\n

    Pharmacist greed?!<\/strong> Apparently pharmacists actually want to get paid a reasonable fee for dispensing Covid-19 antivirals<\/a>. As if a whole dollar \u2014 one genuine<\/em> American dollar! \u2014 isn\u2019t enough. (NCPA and APhA are working to change that. Meanwhile, PBMs say they\u2019re "stepping up, voluntarily, to cover dispensing fees." Isn\u2019t that righteous of them?) Bonus: The story includes a quote from APC member Steve Moore from Condo Pharmacy in Plattsburgh, N.Y.<\/p>\n

    Live long and prosper<\/strong>: Hawai\u2019i is your best bet. The latest state-by-state life expectancy data<\/a> shows residents of the Aloha State live the longest \u2014 80.9 years on average (in 2019), compared to 78.8 for the country as a whole. (Mississippians had the shortest life expectancy at 74.4 years.)<\/p>\n
